How a Backyard Garden went Rogue

For the last 15 plus years, as the owner of a travel company,  I have been on a mission to  help others connect and understand others from around the world.   In 2016 we added walking tours through  Downtown Phoenix and the RoRo Arts district.  I relished every day meeting travelers, local businesses owners, and especially getting to know the local street artists and sharing their stories. I became a part of the community.  A walk through the RoRo  was like  walking through Mr. Rogers neighborhood.

Ironically,  I felt more connected to the people of  downtown Phoenix than I did to my own community. I started to feel and intense pull to change that.  At the same time I revived my long term love affair with gardening.     Somewhere in there I ordered Ranunculus for the first time and I was hooked on the idea of starting a flower farm. . . but I live on an urban lot with limited growing space. So this is where my backyard garden went rogue.

Over the summer of 2026  Bloomin' Fun Flower Farm, LLC  was born.  It now consists of about 1,000 square feet of growing space on my urban lot  and 3 other garden plots in the yards of my friends . . . and more plots just waiting for me to get digging!   I help my friends  set up their  gardens including a section of cut flowers that they can enjoy until it is time to put them in a bouquet!  At the time of this writing (September 18, 2026) All four of us are anxiously awaiting the delivery of about 800 plugs to arrive next week so we can kick off our first full blown flower season together!
